How's YOUR Story Serving
You?
We all carry
stories with us -- stories
about ourselves, our
experiences, and the world
we live in. These
stories can either enhance
our lives and help us take
positive action, or they can
detract from our lives and
keep us stuck where we don't
want to be.
There was a
time in my life, not so many
years ago, that my story was
about an unfriendly and
dangerous world filled with
people and experiences that
might get in the way of my
ideal life. And, of
course, since those were my
beliefs, that's what I
created.
Over the
last few years, I've changed
my story, and I now
know that this is, in fact,
an extremely friendly
Universe filled with
abundance and loving,
friendly, helpful people.
And since changing my story,
my life has changed in
incredible ways. I'm
serving more and more people
every day, my business is
flourishing, and I have
wonderful experiences with
people everywhere I go!
There's no
question that the story I
carry with me now
is serving me and everyone I
impact in very positive
ways!
Of course,
my purpose in writing this
is to focus on you.
So my question for you today
is: How are
your
stories serving you and
other people in your life?
I've met
people throughout my life
who talk about painful
events that happened to them
years ago in such vivid
detail that it almost sounds
as if the event is happening
right now. And I've
come to realize that we
actually are
re-living those stories over
and over again when we do
that. We spend our
precious present moments
re-living an experience that
was unpleasant for us when
we had it the first time!
Every time we do that we
deplete the precious energy
we could be
using to create the life we
want!
Another
important piece here is that
when we carry old stories
with us, the actions we take
now are based on
those old stories. So,
let's say that you were a
"victim" in your story.
How powerful will you be in
deciding what actions to
take at this point in
your life if you're
still carrying that story
with you?
What you may
not have realized before
this moment is that
you are the chooser
of your stories.
I don't care how many times
you've told yourself the
story, or where you got it
in the first place.
You can choose a different
story at this very moment.
Are you
choosing stories that
inspire you to create the
kind of life you
want?
Your
Two-Week Action Plan
-
Look at an area of
your life that is
going really well.
What stories have
you chosen that have
helped you create
those results?
-
Now look at an area
you would like to
improve. What
stories are you
carrying with you
that are getting in
the way in that
area? If you don't
know -- ask that
friend or family
member who is not
afraid to be
truthful with you.
-
Once you uncover the
story that is
getting in your way,
stop
telling it!
That means no more
telling it to
others, and no more
telling it to
yourself!
-
Consciously choose
your
new "replacement
story" that will
help you create what
you want. If you do
this, you will start
seeing different
results very
quickly!
